Congrats to Coach Grace Benes, Liz Baugher , Amiee Bagley and Thomas Belsha for their awesome races at Toyota US OPEN! Grace and Liz finished 3rd and 4th Overall in the competitive Elite Amateur Wave. Grace swam 20:29, biked,1:10:18 and ran 40:55 for a finish of 2:16:05. Liz had a swim of 22:49, bike 1:07:57 and run 41:20 with a finish of 2:16:37. Aimee was 7th her AG 25-29 F. She did her swim 27:18, bike, 1:18:43 and run 49:48 crossing the finish in 2:41:52…awesome for her Olympic Triathlon debut. And Thomas persevered through illness with a swim 40:27, bike 1:33:40 and run 59:45 breaking the tape at 3:22:03. Great job guys!!!

Unfortunately, the weather caused the Houston Tri was reduced to an aquathon. But, despite the changes ORR represented well. OutRival Racing received 4 out of the top 10!! Congrats to Sarah Gray, Liz Baugher, Leslie Clinchard and Courtney Livaudais. Sarah and Liz finish 1-2 for the Oly!!! Erin Rivers took 11th in 30-34F AG. Jenny Holzaepfel picked up 8th in 30-34F AG, Melissa Stanosheck posted an 11th place finish 30-34F AG. Pam Hill had her best finish to date placing 12th in F40-44, smoking the run with an 8:18 pace! Cathy Cook took 10th in 45-49F AG Stephen Johnson finished 4th in 30-34M, Pablo Gomez took 8th in AG 30-34M. Yuji Iwanaka took the 3rd place spot for AG 35-39 and Sergio Roldan secured 10th in AG 35-39M. Guillermo Maldonado snagged 3rd place in AG 45-49M, Leonel Guerrero took 8th in AG 45-49M and John Oldfield took 10th along with Rick Thibodeaux making the grab for 11th both in 45-49M AG. Racing in Clydesdale 40 and over Jamie Farmer ran away with 1st place, Blake Henning 5th, Brian Perry 11th, Blake Jehle 13th and Eduardo Briz 16th, respectively.

The sprint distance also had great results. Dee Dee Hurst 2nd place 35-39F AG and Loan Phan placed 5th 35-39F AG. In the 40-44F AG Sandra Braniff took 6th and Lynn Flora placed 11th with a more than 13 minute PR on the run!! Matthew Perches continues to podium taking 1st in 15-19M AG and 3rd Overall. ORR athletes brought home more hardware in Galveston. The 5150 and Lonestar Sprint were well represented. Capturing 2nd and 3rd AG overall AG female were Karen Maldonado and Grace Benes. 4th Men’s 25-29 was Adam Currier, 3rd Men’s 45-49 was Rick Parker and 5th Women’s 40-44 Tammie Manchester. Karen set the course on fire with a 23:44 swim, 1:07:10 bike and 44:44 run hitting the mark in 2:17:18 placing 1st 40-44 Female AG. Grace had a terrific swim of 21:07, bike 1:08:11 and run 45:50 for a 2:17:39 finish. Tammie placed 5th in Women’s 45-49 AG with a swim 35:23, bike 1:14:55 and run 1:09:34 finishing in 3:02:22. Rick Parker showed his steel placing 3rd in Men’s 45-49 AG in a swim of 25:49,bike 1:05:13 and run 49:05 finishing 2:23:17. Adam snagged 3rd place with a 25:35 swim, bike 1:04:34 and run 45:45 tapping the mat at 2:18:25. Sam Newton 50-54M had a 31:30 swim, 1:22:10 bike and 1:07:25 run for a time of 3:06:09, Alan Jaax 35-39M swim 25:46, bike 1:18:39 and run 56:41 with a finish of 2:43:17. Clint Yates 35-39M swim 27:39, bike 1:14:19 and run 57:34 finishing 2:43:32. Adam Martin 30-34M rounds out our Oly group with a 34:08 swim, 1:09:36 bike and 1:10:11 run and 2:56:22 finish.

Taking on the Lonestar Sprint was Sandra Braniff 40-44F. Swim 12:24, bike 38:47 and run 29:43 she crossed the finish in 1:23:51!!! Great job to all the athletes!!!!

Congratulations to Coach Michelle LeBlanc on her FIRST place finish in the elite amature AG at the Hy-Vee 5150 Championships!! After coming out 15th in the swim, 23:08 she picked off the leaders to surpsass Christina Jackson for the lead during the bike portion. Michelle flew to a 1:02:00 on the bike and a tremendously speedy 39:28 on the run for the push to victory crossing the finish at 2:07:17. In addition to her hardware and prize purse money, Michelle scored a CAR… a Mini Cooper to be exact! Well done and fantastic racing, Coach. Next up for Michelle is the Kona, World Championships.

Kudos to Coach Sarah Gray as well! In a VERY tough field of competitors and a late start time, Sarah pushed through to the finish in 2:20:52. Despite hot conditions Sarah surged the swim in 21:57, biked 1:10:40 and gutted out a 46:16 run. What determination and perseverance! Pro till the end! Great job, Sarah! Congratulations.

Coach Michelle LeBlanc 1st Place

ORR made a presence in Clear Lake this weekend in both the sprint and international distances. Triny Aguirre grabbed the 1st Overall Female in the Sprint with a blazing bike split, finishing in 1:07:09! Richard Tramm won the Sprint Men’s 45-49 AG in 1:08:03, and Roberto Guiot won the M35-39AG in the International Distance! Way to race, athletes!!

Congratulations to Coach Sarah Gray for finishing 4th overall pro female at the Rev 3 Race in Maine!!!! Sarah swam 21:13, biked 1:04:35 and fired off a smokin’ fast pace of 6:37 for a 40:22 run. Way to go, Sarah!! Next up is the Hyvee Championship next weekend.

ORR had a great day in Vermont for the USAT Nationals. After a brutal and choppy swim, athletes fired all cylinders on the bike and hit the pavement solidly for the run. Sydney Currenti actually raced BOTH the sprint and Oly distances!! WOW! She finished 1:24:24 for the Sprint and 2:57:14 for the Oly. John posted a fine finish of 2:16:38- fastest Texan in the M40-44 Age Group. Lisa had a super finish time of 2:47:56. Sydney placed 24th in her age group Female 15-19 for the sprint and 16th in the Oly distance! Great show, all!! Well done!

Congrats to Todd Teren for his overall victory at the Calgary Olympic Triathlon! Great job!! Todd had a fantastic race and won by several minutes. Todd is living in Calgary this year but plans to come race in Texas soon. Next up for Todd is the Bridgeland Sprint Tri on August 5th. Great job Todd!

Congrats to Sarah Gray for a 7th place pro finish at New York 5150, yesterday! Sarah finished in 2:04:50 in some fierce competition. Sarah had the 4th fastest bike and 4th fastest run out of the pros. This was a PR too! This earned Sarah more points for the coveted Hyvee Championship race in Des Moines in August. Way to go Sarah!
