Andrew ran cross country and track in high school (Boerne High School). He was a 4 time varsity letterman in XC and 3 time varsity letterman in track. In 2003 his XC team won the 4A State Championship. Andrew started doing triathlons his sophomore year in high school as the running leg in a few relays. His first open water triathlon was the Austin CapTex in 2004. He competed on the Texas A&M triathlon team for four years in college and also competed in road cycling on the TAMU Cycling Team. Andrew represents the Jockstrap Catapult Club in Houston and races as an Amateur Elite on the ORR Team. Andrew has completed 50+ triathlons.
