Coach Matt Hemberger grew up the Dallas/Fort Worth area playing competitive soccer. During this time, Matt received an invitation to the highly respected Dallas Cup and was later given the opportunity to travel Europe for an international tournament with Olympic Development Program athletes. After graduating college from Texas A&M University (Whoop!), Matt knew he had to find something that would keep him active and allow his competitive spirit to thrive. At the recommendation of several good friends, he began to train for his first triathlon. From there, the rest is history. Matt has been a competitive triathlete and runner for the past 7 years; most notably placing 1st in his age group at the 2009 South Midwest Region Sprint Distance Championships in Plano, TX and completing the 2011 Ironman Coeur d'Alene in Idaho. Matt coached in Conroe ISD for several years and is the former girls Cross Country and distance running Track & Field coach for The Woodlands College Park High School. For 2010-2011, the state and nationally ranked College Park girls CC team placed 1st at District and Regionals (Region II) and 4th at the State 5A finals in Round Rock, TX. In track, the College Park girls set the 2nd fastest time for the state of Texas in the Distance Medley Relay in 2010 and sent 3 track athletes to regional competition in the 1600m and 3200m. Several of the College Park distance runners also qualified for the highly respected Congress Avenue Mile in Austin, TX. Matt, his wife Meghann, and their newest addition Molly Reese (born March 19, 2011), make their home in Schertz, Texas (25 miles NE of San Antonio).
