Coach Matt Hemberger has been an athlete his entire life. As a youth, Matt played competitive soccer in the Dallas area. From the infamous Dallas Cup, to traveling Europe for international tournaments with Olympic Development Program athletes, Matt's athleticism and leadership as team captain provided a foundation for what was to come later in life. After graduating college fromTexas A&M University (Whoop!), Matt knew he had to find something that would keep him active and allow his competitive spirit to thrive. At the recommendation of several good friends, Matt began to train for his first triathlon. From there, the rest is history. Matt has been a competitive triathlete and runner for the past 6 years, most recently placing 1st in his age group at the 2009 South Midwest Region Sprint DistanceChampionships in Plano, TX. Matt has experience in triathlon race distances up to the half-Ironman, has completed several marathons and half-marathons, and will compete in Ironman Coeur d'Alene in June of 2011.

Matt has coached for Conroe ISD for several years and is currently the girls Cross Country and distancerunningTrack & Field coach for The Woodlands College Park High School. This past year, the state and nationally rankedCollege Park girls CC team placed 1st at District and Regionals (Region II) and 2nd at the State 5A finals in Round Rock, TX. In track, the College Park girls set the 2nd fastest time for the state of Texas in the Distance Medley Relay and sent 3 track athletes to regional competition in the 1600m and 3200m. 3 of his distance runners also qualified for the highly respected Congress Avenue Mile in Austin, TX.

Matt and his wifeMeghann, who also competes in running and triathlon events, make their home in Spring, TX and have been married 4 years. Together, they enjoy spending time training, traveling toraces,hanging with friends, and are expectingtheir firstbaby girl in March! They also have a black labrador named Shelby that you may see on the running path as well.
