Bio: My athletic background consisted of year-round swimming for approximately 20 years before I took on the sport of triathlon at the age of 26. I got into triathlons simply because I wanted to try something new. I was just winging it for 9 years before finally getting tired of being an average finisher. I knew I could do so much better and was wasting time not knowing how I really needed to train. In my first year being coached in 2011, I competed in my first half Ironman triathlon in 8 years, cut off over 45 minutes, finished 7th in my age group, and just missed out on making the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Ever since then, I have competed all over the U.S. with some very satisfying results. I was recognized as a USA Triathlon All-American every year since 2011. I was also recognized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) as being an Ironman Silver All-World triathlete in 2013 & 2014. Thanks to Todd Teren and OutRival Racing, I set personal records in the half-Ironman (4:22:36) and Ironman (10:27:59), both at the age of 38. But after my finish at Ironman Texas in 2014, I decided right then that I didn't want to compete in 70.3 and 140.6 races anymore. My body is just not suited for long distance races like those. Plus, I didn’t have the necessary time to invest in training for those distances and be good enough to make it to a world championship. Olympic distance triathlons are what I enjoy the most, so I'm just going to stick to those. I may throw in a few sprint triathlons, too.
