Pam earned her BA in Management at Northern Illinois University and her MPA from the University of South Florida. She was a competitor on the National Rodeo Circuit for many years and grew up showing quarter horses. Although she started triathlon later in life she was a seasoned competitor. Pam did her first sprint triathlon at the age of 47 and was “hooked”. She has been a USAT level 2 certified coach since 2009 and a USA cycling level 2 coach since 2010. Prior to coming to ORR, she owned and managed her own coaching business TriK2KallioKoaching for 17 years. She has coached athletes of all ages and all levels from beginner to World Championships. Her youngest athlete was 14 and her oldest to compete was 72. Pam has since completed 17 Ironmans and qualified for Kona World Championships in 2014 and 2015 by winning her age group at Ironman Arizona both prior years. She has completed 100s of triathlons including half Ironmans, Olympic and Sprint distances, as well as road races and mountain bike races. Pam was on the Mark Allen Elite team for 6 years. Along with coaching for ORR she also works full time at TriSports.com. She has had the opportunity to work closely with and knows many Pros in the triathlon world helping to shape her own philosophy of coaching. Pam works one on one with all of her athletes detailing their training plans specifically to each athlete’s goals and needs. She believes in a holistic approach to training. She truly loves the sport and believes that “grit” and determination can make up for whatever genetic ability you weren’t born with. She is a mom and grandmother, having raised two daughters that both ran track and cross country throughout their high school and University years. She knows the importance of balance between family, work and training. She is passionate about giving back to the sport which is why she started to coach. “I truly believe that to excel, to reach your maximum potential everyone needs a coach. When I started, it was hard to find any information about triathlon training, now there is so much information it’s hard to sift through to find what is right for you. A coach can give you that perspective, knows how to keep you motivated and knows how to pull more out of you that you expect. A good coach becomes a friend and mentor, keeps you uninjured but above all believes in you more than you believe in yourself at times. I still have a coach today and I can’t imagine trying to reach your full potential without a coach as a guide.” Throughout Pam’s career as an athlete she has forged longstanding relationships with Physical Therapists, Nutritionalists, Massage Therapists, and Orthopedic Doctors all of which she can draw on to assist her clients to reach their goals.
