Barbara Nelson’s past and present professions include physician in a medical and surgical practice, college professor, and triathlon coaching. She has a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a master’s degree in public health and teaches those subjects on the college level. She has a great interest in the exercise science, health, and nutrition literature and evidence based practice. She has a passion for recruiting and inspiring people to the fitness lifestyle. She enjoys connecting with her athletes and getting to know them on a personal level, believing that communication is one of the keys for success in the coach-athlete relationship. Barbara is married with two children and understands the need for flexibility of working athletes with families.
Barbara has been participating in triathlon since 2001 and has completed races of all distances including 23 Ironman triathlons. In 2015, she decided that she was ready to take her own training, racing, and coaching to the next level, as she began working under the guidance of QT2 Coach Brad Strater, achieving many personal best performances over the age of 50. Since then, Barbara has fully embraced the importance of the five QT2 Cornerstones, and now works with OutRival Racing to instill the same in her own athletes.
