Five OutRival Racing athletes competed at the Chappell Hill Road Races on September 11th.
Mikey Benes competed in the Men's Cat 4/5, 35+ Division and was able to capture the King of the Mountain Hot Spot Award! Mikey was able to have a pack finish. Clint Hankla had a strong race in the Cat 3 division and finished with the field. Terry Garrett competed in the Cat 5 Men's Race and felt great (well, for at least the first half). :-)
Grace Benes and Michelle LeBlanc raced the Cat 4 Women's Category. Michelle was unable to follow the proper route, whereas Grace was able to do so... and come away with a podium spot!! Grace finished first place in her first-ever road race.
Congrats ORR cyclists!!

Three ORR athletes raced the Du the Bear Duathlon this last Saturday in Bear Creek Park. This event consisted of a 2 mile run/ 20 mile bike/ 2 mile run.
Sandra Braniff had a great race! Sandra ran 8:49 min/mile pace for the first 2 miles, biked 17.1 mph for the 20 mile bike, and finished it off with a solid run. Overall time was 1:18:10. Sandra's daughter beat her by a minute, which made her proud! :-)
Mother and Daughter, Renee and Lauren Stolen, raced their first duathlon (or race of any kind longer than a 5K) together. Twenty-one year old, Lauren, finished 5th in her age group with a total time of 1:12:54. She ran the first run at 8:25 min/miles and the 2nd running portion of the race at 8:40 pace. She had a super consistent race.

The amazing forty-five year old, Renee, finished in 1:23:15. Renee has been working really hard after snapping her achilles tendon and after recovering from a bike accident. We are super proud of her determination. She is now fully recovered and is in GO mode.

Blake Henning had an awesome race at the 5K Race for the cure on Saturday, October 1st. Blake ran the 5K in 23:13. Great job Blake!
